Jessica Gordon: Publishing

I found the publishing process to be very straight forward. It is definitely time consuming and your formatting has to be meticulous. In the end, however, I think it is worth it to self-publish your book. As long as the book is professionally edited, I believe the quality is the same as a traditionally published book. Readers want a good story. If you can give them a good story that is told well, to me, the source of how it gets into their hands isn't as important. The road to a traditional publishing deal can be long and it could take up to a year to see your book in print. With the popularity of e-books, you can really control when your book goes out. I also love the pricing options. These days, I'm sure many people would really have to think twice about spending over $15 on a book. It is an exciting time to be an author with the advent of e-readers since people are always searching for books. In one click, you have a story at your fingertips. I love the chance to be part of that.
