Heather Thurmeier is a lover of strawberry margaritas, a hater of spiders, and a reality TV junkie. She was born and raised in the Canadian prairies, but now lives in upstate New York with her own personal romance Hero (aka her husband) and their two little princesses. When she's not busy taking care of the kids and an adventurous puppy named Indy, Heather's hard at work on her next romance novel. Love and Lattes, Love on Landing, Love or Luxury, Bunny Hills and Bikinis, Falling for You ~ Available now! Stuck on You and Lost without You ~ Coming Soon!
Q. What inspired your novel, Falling for You?
Falling for You was inspired by my love of reality TV, specifically shows like the Bachelor/Bachelorette. I wondered what would happen if a person went on one of these shows, only to fall in love with an unintended person. What would happen next? Those questions snowballed into a story that I couldn’t ignore, so I started writing!
Q. Would you say that you and your character, Cassidy, share more similarities or differences?
I think it’s a good mix. There are definitely qualities of Cassidy that come from me. Her quirky sense of humor is all me. Her feistiness to stand up for herself and hold her own is something that also comes from me. Her clumsiness is not a characteristic we share, although I am around some awfully clumsy people…not mentioning any names, of course…
Q. If given the opportunity, would you go on a reality show to find love?
NO! No way. Nuh-uh. I am way to chicken to go on one of those shows. They always make people do crazy things like sing in at a concert in front of 10,000 people. I would never make it on a show like that! I definitely prefer staying home and watching reality TV shows versus actually appearing on one.
Q. With "Falling For You", did the title, plot, or characters come to you first?
The plot twist came before anything else. It was really the twists that got me excited about the book then I built the plot and the characters around those ideas.
Q. If you could pick any celebrity to be a bachelor on a show where you'd compete for his love, who would he be, and why?
Hmmm… Tough call. I’m going to go with Channing Tatum. He was just named Sexiest Man Alive, so there must be a reason. I’d be willing to find out firsthand what it was. :-)
Q. Is writing something you've always wanted to do or did you develop a love for it as time went on?
Writing was always something I loved and wanted to do as a career. For a long time—too long—I didn’t know how to make it a career so I just didn’t bother trying. I always thought it would be fun to write something, but didn’t know what. Then when I got the idea for Falling for You, I just couldn’t ignore it. I still didn’t know how to make writing my career, but I honestly didn’t care anymore. I wanted to write this book just to prove to myself that I could. Once I started writing, I fell in love with the creative process. I finally felt like I’d found the thing in life I was meant to do. Now I can’t imagine ever doing anything else.
Q. What book are you currently reading?
Right now I’m reading the third book in the Matched trilogy called Reached. It’s a YA dystopian novel—one of my favorite genres to read!
Q. Do you have a writing ritual? If so, describe it to us. If not, tell us why.
I wouldn’t say I have a ritual. I usually write after I send the kids off to school. I grab a coffee from my Keurig (best coffee machine ever!) in my giant Tinkerbell mug that says “mornings aren’t magical” and I find a comfy corner on the couch to sit with my laptop. I don’t listen to music or anything while I write. I prefer the house to be calm and quiet, except for maybe the white noise of the washing machine or dryer. And I usually stop writing when it’s time to pick up the kids from school. Not much of a ritual, but it seems to work well for me.
Q. What can your fans expect next?
In Feb 2013, fans can expect the next book in the Reality TV Romance trilogy called Stuck on You. This time it’s Paige’s story and she’s in for a real adventure on an Amazing Race inspired reality TV show. And for all who love to hate Zoe, she’s back and better than ever! Later in 2013 Zoe will get her own book titled Lost Without You. If you think you know Zoe, think again. This villain just might surprise you.
If fans are looking for something a little different, I also have a paranormal romance coming in the first half of 2013. It will hopefully be the start of a new series.

Q. What advice do you have for aspiring authors?
The best advice I have received is to keep writing. You never know what book is going to land you that publishing gig or agent. And you even after it’s published, you never know if it’s going to be a hit with readers. The best thing you can do as an aspiring author is to just continue to read, write and learn your craft. Every book you write and edit will make you stronger and will in turn make your next books better.

Summary: Newly single Cassidy Quinn is thrilled to be a contestant on the new reality dating show The One. But her excitement turns to horror when the gorgeous bachelor turns out to be her ex-boyfriend. Seeing Brad again makes Cassidy realize she might not be as “over him” as she thought—and then she meets hunky cameraman Evan Burke. After watching his brother lose his wife in a tragic accident, Evan vows never to fall in love. But following Cassidy around as her personal cameraman makes him question his decision, and resisting her gets harder with every sunbathing, bikini-wearing day. Cassidy and Evan begin a forbidden affair while her ex-boyfriend tries to win her heart back one groping, awkward moment at a time. If Cassidy can manage to stop falling off horses (literally), stop falling onto her ex-boyfriend, the bachelor (yes, literally), and stop falling in love with backstage playboy Evan, she might still make it through the show without becoming a tabloid sensation. But soon Cassidy must choose between the ex who broke her heart and the cameraman who might never love her back. For Cassidy, this reality show just got real.
Review: I know we're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but from the moment I saw the cover, I knew that I would INSTANTLY love this novel; and I was RIGHT!! The story is told from Cassidy Quinn, who is 28-years-old and Evan Burke. Cassidy is a contestant on a reality show, The One, where she meets Evan, the cameraman. Anyway, the show is a dating reality show where ten women compete against each other in challenges for the bachelor, Brad's, heart. Not only is Brad the bachelor of the show, but he is also Cassidy's ex-boyfriend. Cassidy immediately becomes friends with Paige and enemies with Zoe! As the story goes on, it becomes even more intriguing. I didn't know how the story would end, but I absolutely loved it! I love reality television, but I don't watch The Bachelor/Bachelorette, but I enjoyed this novel from start to finish. I literally would put off doing homework to finish this book. I can't wait to see what Paige and Zoe's stories will be like. Everyone should buy this book RIGHT NOW!!!
